In 2016, the United Kingdom (UK) voted by a narrow margin to leave the 28-member political and economic partnership known as the European Union (EU). In response to the referendum results, leaders from the UK and EU began the arduous process of negotiating a British exit (“Brexit”). Though the Brexit deadline was granted an extension to October of this year, uncertainty remains as the far-reaching economic and political implications have yet to be fully realized.
