These Grand Kabuki artists from Japan have been in residence to train the UH Mānoa student and community cast of the kabuki production, The Maiden Benten and the Bandits of the White Waves, April 19-20 & 26-28, at UH Mānoa Kennedy Theatre.
Visitor parking is managed by the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, and is usually free and ample on Sundays.
Visit the related East-West Center Gallery exhibition Kabuki in Hawai'i: Connections through Time and Space, on view through May 5. The exhibition features newspaper articles, photographs, posters, video, and stage pieces from the unique 130-year history of kabuki theatre in Hawai'i.
Presented in partnership with the UH Mānoa Department of Theatre and Dance. Supported by the Barbara B. Smith Endowment for Performing Arts, Jeanne E. Rolles, the East-West Center Arts 'Ohana, and other generous donors.
