Friday, July 30, 2021 | 5:00-6:00am, Hawaii
Friday, July 30, 2021 | 9:00-10:00pm, Bhutan
Bhutan, the only carbon-negative country in the world, plans to reach zero net greenhouse gas emissions and to produce zero waste by 2030. Despite fully vaccinating 90 percent of eligible adults within a week, the pandemic has gravely impacted the travel industry and put a halt in the Bhutanese tourism sector with devastating socio-economic impacts.
This live discussion and event 'Collective Innovation: Virtual Bhutan' invites listeners to reimagine tourism in the physical & virtual worlds using the social audio app named Clubhouse. Among the panelists is 2021 EWC Innovation for Sustainable Development Fellow (#EWCinnovationfellow) Thinley Choden whose Bhutan Tours and Travels is partnering with the EWC to develop a virtual reality (VR) tourism prototype in Bhutan. The goal of the program is to create VR tourism to address pandemic travel restrictions that support travel innovation and climate mitigation.
