East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship 

Funding for masters or doctoral students from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States to participate in educational, cultural, residential community building, and leadership development programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.
Type of study: Master's or Doctoral degree (up to 24-month fellowship).
Eligibility: Citizens or permanent residents of the United States and citizens of countries in the Pacific and Asia, including Russia. See application for complete list of eligible countries.
Provisions: Tuition and fees, graduate residence hall room costs, health insurance subsidy, book allowance, and partial living stipend. Competitive field study/ travel grant awards.

East-West Center Alumni Scholar and Foundation Awards

One-year scholarships and awards, made available through the Center's alumni and friends, which support funding for graduate students with a commitment to the Asia Pacific region to participate in residential, educational, and leadership development programs at the EWC while pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Hawai‘i.
Type of study: Master's or Doctoral degree (up to 12-month scholarship).
Eligibility: Citizens or permanent residents of the United States and citizens of countries in the Pacific and Asia. 
Provisions: Variable. These awards may be made as supplements to the EWC Graduate Degree Fellowships, or as stand-alone one-year financial awards to assist with tuition or living expenses in EWC housing.

Funding for graduate students to participate in residential, educational and leadership programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study in ADB-approved fields at the University of Hawai‘i.

United States South Pacific Scholarship Program (USSP) 

Provides educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students from South Pacific nations in fields of study meeting development needs in the Pacific islands region. Funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the East-West Center.
Type of study: Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree study; educational exchange experience including participation in cultural activities, mentoring, host family and volunteer service.
Eligibility: Citizens of the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
Provisions: Tuition and fees, residence hall room costs, health insurance, book allowance, living stipend, and round-trip airfare.

Obuchi Student Scholarship 

Funding for graduate students to participate in residential and educational programs at the East-West Center while while pursuing a graduate degree at the University of Hawai‘i, or for study in the Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP).
Type of Study: Master's or Doctoral degree (up to 24-month fellowship) or APLP.
Eligibility: Residents of Okinawa, Japan, who have the intention of returning to contribute to its development needs.
Provisions: Substantial funding toward education and living expenses, including tuition and fees, graduate residence hall room costs, health insurance subsidy, book allowance, and partial living stipend. Competitive field study/travel grant awards.

East-West Center Student Affiliate Program 

An opportunity for University of Hawai‘i graduate students and graduate students coming to Hawai‘i on official exchange programs to participate in the Center's residential, educational, leadership, and cultural programs.
Type of study: Participation in EWC programs focused on creating an Asia Pacific community through dialogue, educational and cultural activities, and public outreach.
Eligibility: Full-time graduate student status at the University of Hawai‘i, or participation in a graduate-level exchange program. Open to students from all countries with research interests in the Asia Pacific region.
Provisions: Discounted housing rate in EWC residence halls; eligible for competitive EWC field-study/travel grant awards.
Application deadline: November 1 for spring semester start; May 15 for fall semester start.

East-West Center Affiliate Scholar Program 

An opportunity for graduate students from universities and institutions around the world to have a short-term affiliation with the Center while working on research for a thesis or dissertation related to the Asia Pacific region. Applicants may apply to the EWC, or through partner organizations.
Type of study: Intensive research for Master's or Doctoral students for a few months up to one year; participation in the Center's residential and educational programs. 
Eligibility: Graduate students from universities worldwide, to work on research for a thesis or dissertation related to the Asia Pacific region.
Provisions: Research library access and discounted housing rate in EWC graduate residence halls. Partner organizations determine other provisions.
Application deadline: Applications are received year-round and affiliation is arranged individually. For partnerships, applicants must meet their funding organization deadlines.

Hawai‘i Pacific Foundation Doctoral Research Award

Supports dissertation research that promotes educational access for Native Hawaiians or demonstrates a commitment or contribution to the study of issues important to the Native Hawaiian community. 
Type of Study: IRB-approved dissertation research.
Eligibility: ABD candidates conducting research on issues important to the Native Hawaiian community.
Provisions: Funds to be used for tuition and/or institution fees, books, living expenses, equipment, travel supplies, software, and other expenses directly related to conducting approved research. 6-month residency at EWC encouraged.

Development Research for Oceania Pipeline (DROP) 

Provides support for graduate thesis and dissertaion policy-oriented research related to priority Pacific development issues identified in consultation wtih the East-West Center and senior officials of Pacific Developing Member Countries (PDMC).
Type of Study: IRB-approved Masters or Doctoral Research (12 months of study)
Eligibility: Must be enrolled in a regionally accredited graduate program and conducting research on policy-oriented issues in a Pacific Developing Member Country.
Provisions: EWC Professional mentoring and monetary support for tuition fees, books, travel, field research expenses, and EWC residency.

USAID funding to support promising young leaders from Pacific Island countries to earn a one-year professional degree at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in the fields of finance, information systems, or law. 
Type of Study: 12 months of study to earn Master of Science in Finance (MSF), Information systems (MSIS), or Laws (LLM).
Eligibility: Open to citizens of Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, or Vanuatu.
